How do you fight back the ever encroaching darkness?

We can exercise, find connection in the company of others, recite mantras of positivity or consume chemicals to alter our mental state. We can convince ourselves that we are here for a reason and that there is a special purpose to everything we experience.

Sometimes however, when all else fails, we have to simply look at the chaotic reality around us and find gratitude that we are able to perceive anything at all. We exist. Every breath we take, a beam of sunlight piercing the void. That happy swelling ache in our lungs a defiant roar of joy against inevitability.

We have to be here to change anything.
